Separate guest capacity from physical inventory. Max Adults and Max Children describe the party a room type can accept; Quantity describes how many physical rooms of that type can be sold.
Capacity rules
- Adults and children are validated against the room type’s configured limits.
- The public search accepts 1–20 adults and 0–20 children, but a result is only valid when the selected room type can host that party.
- A booking can require more than one room when the requested party or quantity needs it. Hotel Booking rechecks capacity and availability at the Book Now boundary.
Inventory rules
Availability uses the stay interval check-in inclusive, check-out exclusive. Pending, Confirmed and Checked In bookings block inventory. Checked Out, Cancelled and No-show records do not block future sellable availability.
For example, a one-night booking from 10 June through 11 June blocks the night of 10 June, but it does not block a new booking checking in on 11 June.
Change inventory safely
- Open Hotel Booking → Rooms and edit the room type.
- Confirm the current booking calendar and upcoming arrivals first.
- Change Quantity only for a verified physical-room change.
- Select Update Room.
- Run searches across the affected dates and party sizes.
Do not use quantity changes to hide an existing booking or repair an unknown overbooking. Pause sales, identify the affected bookings, and follow the incident process.
Expected result and verification
Search results show the available quantity for the requested dates. A booking reduces availability for its blocking stay interval, while a cancelled or checked-out record releases it. Repeat the same search in a private window and verify the saved booking detail before reopening sales.
