Hotel Setup

Configure booking and operational settings

Set default guest counts, hotel check-in and check-out times, and administration display limits for daily operations.

Set practical defaults for the public availability form and Hotel Booking administration screens. These defaults improve data entry but do not replace a room type’s capacity or availability rules.

Configure booking defaults

  1. Open Hotel Booking → Settings.
  2. In Booking Defaults, set Default Adults from 1 to 20.
  3. Set Default Children from 0 to 20.

Choose the most common search party for the hotel. A guest can change these values, and every result must still satisfy the selected room type’s capacity.

Configure operational policies

  1. In Operational Policies, set Check-in Time using the hotel’s local 24-hour time.
  2. Set Check-out Time.

These values communicate the standard hotel policy. They do not change the calendar rule that a booking check-out date must be after its check-in date.

Configure administration display

  1. In Admin Display, set Bookings Per Page from 5 to 100.
  2. Set Recent Bookings from 5 to 100.
  3. Set Arrivals / Departures Limit from 5 to 100.
  4. Select Save Changes.

Use lower values on a resource-constrained administration site and higher values only when staff need more records on one screen.

Expected result

The screen reports Settings saved successfully. New availability forms use the configured default guest counts. Guest-facing operational information uses the check-in and check-out times. Administration lists respect the selected display limits.

Verify

  1. Reload the settings screen and confirm the values persisted.
  2. Open /search-availability/ in a private browser and inspect the initial adult and child values.
  3. Open the Hotel Booking dashboard and bookings list to confirm the limits do not hide required daily work.
  4. Complete the first booking checklist and confirm the saved guest count comes from the submitted form.

If validation rejects a value, correct the highlighted field and save again. Do not alter the database directly to bypass the documented ranges.
